Dibs on Dirt, a service operated by Steven Christopher Vazquez, a sole proprietor doing business as CampWatch ("we," "us," or "our"), operates the campsite availability alert service at dibsondirt.com. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
What we collect
We collect only what's needed to run the alert service:
- Email address — required to send you campsite availability alerts.
- Mobile phone number — SMS alerts aren't live yet. Once they launch for Premium members, we'll collect your number only if you explicitly opt in by checking the SMS box in your notification settings. It will never be required.
- Notification preferences — your timezone, digest time, and the campsite watches you configure.
We do not collect payment information directly. If we introduce paid features, billing is handled by a third-party payment processor subject to their own privacy policy.
SMS alerts
SMS alerts are coming soon for Premium members and aren't live yet. This section describes how they'll work once they launch.
Your mobile phone number will be collected only when you explicitly opt in to SMS alerts by checking the opt-in box in your notification settings. Providing your number will always be optional.
We never share or sell your mobile opt-in information or SMS consent to third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.
Once enrolled, you'll be able to opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message from us. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency will vary based on campsite availability activity in your watched parks.
How we use your data
Your information is used solely to operate the Dibs on Dirt alert service — to send you campsite availability notifications by email (and by SMS once that channel launches), and to manage your alert preferences. We do not sell, rent, or license your personal data to any third party.
Data sharing
We share your data only with infrastructure providers that are strictly necessary to run the service — for example, our email delivery platform, and an SMS delivery platform once that channel launches. These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually bound to protect it.
Mobile opt-in data and SMS consent are never shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for any marketing purpose. This applies regardless of any other data-sharing arrangement.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account yourself, any time, from account settings — the gear icon in the app, or the settings screen on iOS and Android. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
Deleting your account removes your account record, watches, alert history, notification settings, and push device registrations. It also cancels any active subscription; any remaining paid period is forfeited, since there's no account left to serve it.
Billing records are the one exception — we keep them as a financial and accounting record. They're keyed to a transaction, not to your account, and carry no personal data once your account is deleted.
You can also request deletion by contacting us at support@dibsondirt.com. California residents may contact us to request deletion of their data under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
Cookies and analytics
We use PostHog for product analytics — to understand how the service is used and to improve it. PostHog may set cookies or use local storage to track anonymous usage events. We do not use advertising cookies or sell analytics data.
