SMS campsite alerts — coming soon for Premium

Last updated: July 9, 2026

SMS alerts aren't live yet. They're coming soon for Dibs on Dirt Premium members, and this page shows exactly how opt-in will work once they launch.

When SMS alerts launch, Dibs on Dirt will send opted-in Premium subscribers text alerts about campsite availability for the parks they watch on ReserveCalifornia and Recreation.gov. This page exists so anyone reviewing our messaging program, including carriers and Twilio/TCR reviewers, can see exactly how opt-in will work, without needing to sign in or pay for an account.

How opt-in will work

SMS will be off by default. Once it launches, a subscriber will need to take every one of these steps to start receiving texts:

  1. Sign in to their account at dibsondirt.com.
  2. Open Notification settings from their account menu.
  3. Enter their mobile number in the phone number field.
  4. Check one or both SMS options — “Evening digest via SMS” for a nightly summary of new openings, and/or “Instant alerts via SMS” for a text the moment a watched site opens. Both will be unchecked by default. SMS won't send unless a subscriber actively checks at least one.
  5. Read the consent disclosure shown directly below the SMS options before saving.

The exact consent disclosure

This is the disclosure text that will appear directly below the SMS opt-in options once SMS launches, reproduced verbatim:

“By checking any option above you consent to receive recurring automated SMS campsite alerts from Dibs on Dirt at the number above. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.”

The disclosure links directly to our Privacy Policy and Terms, exactly as it will appear in the app.

What you'll receive

Once SMS launches and a subscriber opts in, they may receive:

  • An evening digest summarizing new campsite openings for their watched parks.
  • An optional 7:45am pending-release reminder for sites that release on a rolling basis.
  • Instant alerts the moment a watched site opens up.

Message frequency will vary based on campsite availability activity in a subscriber's watched parks. Message and data rates may apply.

Opting out

Once SMS launches, opting out will work the same way it does for any text program:

Reply STOP to any message from us to cancel at any time. Reply HELP for help, or contact support@dibsondirt.com.

Mobile opt-in data and SMS consent are never shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for any marketing purpose.
